The 2021 event might be different, but TVs are still playing a major role.
TCL has used CES to confirm a string of exciting new 85-inch models across its various Series, collectively called the “XL Collection.” The flagship model offers 8K resolution; that’s four times sharper than 4K resolution.
Although not much 8K content is available yet, TCL confirmed that the 8K sets will be able to handle upscaling. As such, even standard 4K content will look infinitely better.
The upscaling uses a proprietary TCL algorithm that can detect the on-screen environment before carrying out the process. In turn, that leads to better colors and more immersive sounds.
It is all possible thanks to the next-gen AI 8K processor and support for HDMI 2.1. For those who don’t know, HDMI 2.1 supports 8K resolution and supports data transmission speeds of up to 60 frames per second.
The flagship unit uses QLED technology. QLED is already known for its brighter, more vivid, and more nuanced colors, so the addition of 8K to the existing screens is sure to be a winner among consumers.
