Team Fortress 2 has been around for years, and part of what helps it to maintain its popularity are the unique characters that make up the team. Valve’s own Team Fortress 2 Meet the Class videos highlighted these outlandish personalities, and the voice actors aren’t forgetting the roles that make the game so great.

In a video uploaded by Robin Atkin Downes, the voice of The Medic in Team Fortress 2, the voice actors of the Heavy, Sniper, Medic, and The Administrator appear in a deli searching for a sandwich. Of course, fans of the game know that sandwiches are one of Heavy’s favorite things, with a ‘Sandvich’ even serving as a healing item that he can equip and share with his teammates. That’s what makes it so hilarious when the team is upset at the lack of sandwich offerings at the store they’re in.
In the video, the Heavy (Gary Schwartz) speaks first, expressing dismay as to where the sandwich is. The Sniper (John Patrick Lowrie) then expresses similar distaste at the excuse for a sandwich they see in front of them, while the Administrator (Ellen McLain) simply quips, “Victory.” The camera pivots to Robin Atkin Downes as the Medic as he anxiously inquires about whether the deli has wiener schnitzel, to which the employees seem to show amused bewilderment. The whole team, dissatisfied, then turns to leave the store to continue hunting for a sandwich to satisfy Heavy.
This was surely a delightful moment for any fans who happened to be in the room with the voice actors, but thankfully the video is there for anyone who wasn’t around. To their credit, the voice actors of Team Fortress 2 do make appearances in videos, streams, and in interviews with fans, often switching into their iconic character voices to the fans’ delight. Robin Atkin Downes, in particular, has made players happy not only by performing as the Medic in a voice over of select TF2 comics, but also by encouraging the SaveTF2 movement that was trending earlier this year.
While the game’s future is unknown at this time, it’s safe to say that the Team Fortress 2 voice actors who helped to make it what it is still love their characters. Hopefully the Heavy found the sandwich he was looking for, but it’s surely not the last that fans will hear from him and his team.
Team Fortress 2 is available now for PC.
