Selanne was hit in the mouth by Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn's stick. His head hit the ice after he fell, and after several seconds on the ground, he left the ice with a towel to his face.
No penalty was called on the play. The Ducks soon announced that Selanne wouldn't return to the game, which teammate Kyle Palmieri had tied at 2 not long before Selanne's injury.
